TOEFL or Test of English as a Foreign Language is a test which measures people’s English language skills to see if they are good enough to take a class at university or graduate school in English-speaking countries. People who has taken this test will get a certificate as proof that he/she has taken the TOEFL test.
In the Toefl test there are 3 parts that will be tested, which consists of listening, reading, and writing. Then the results of the three tests will be listed on the certificate. However, TOEFL not only used as a requirement to be accepted at a university, but also as requirement to be accepted at several jobs. Whereas in Indonesia, there are several big companies and government agencies that make the TOEFL score as one of the administrative requirements for job applicants. Those companies are Pertamina, Telkom, and some Ministry or official Government office like Civil Servant (PNS). Therefore, TOEFL is very important right now. When we don’t have a TOEFL certificate, we can hardly compete with others.
Unfortunately, some big companies in Indonesia have a standard for the TOEFL score that must be achieved. Obviously, these standards cannot be achieved without a proper preparation before the test. Therefore, BBC-ETS has some classes for the preparation of TOEFL which can be followed privately or regularly.
During the pandemic of Covid-19, BBC-ETS Bekasi is still running online learning activities including TOEFL Preparation Program. Perhaps, some of us think that whether the class is fun or not. Also, you can share anything with your teacher about ‘how to get the answer’ .and get some tricks if you find similar question when you take the test.
