Since the government implemented social distance to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, there was a limitation of large numbers of meetings included in the world of Education. This has an impact on teaching and learning activities in-formal and non-formal education institutions which were originally face-to-face in the classroom, shifted to distance education (PJJ) in a network (online) with an online system. BBC-ETS Kemayoran was able to accept these challenges by turning to online learning.

Through this PJJ system, everyone can get access to quality education as well as face-to-face or regular education in general, without having to leave home. In addition to gaining easy access, the PJJ system is also expected to improve the quality of education for everyone.

The mass nature of the PJJ system in distributing quality education that is standardized by utilizing ICT, standardizing learning outcomes, teaching materials, learning processes, learning assistance, and evaluating learning, makes quality education accessible to various circles across space and time. Therefore, the PJJ program must be implemented as well as possible to produce quality in accordance with education standards.

However, in its implementation there are several challenges faced by the PJJ program, one of them is Internet Networks. Some complaints faced by students in online learning from home are limited pulse quota, and a weak signal network. So that online learning activities cannot run properly. But teachers always try to provide the best service for our students at home. We do a variety of interesting learning methods through video calls, Zoom applications, or Google Meet applications, to be connected with the educators concerned, to attend through the voice notes available on WhatsApp. Learning material can be provided in the form of video or PPT sent via WhatsApp. Then the teacher explains the material through a meeting on the Google Meet application. This method actually moves the problem of gathering in class to gather in their homes, even though the policy of learning at home is actually intended to avoid the crowd.

The readiness of the world of Education in dealing with government policies that use distance learning methods is also an important thing to reconsider. However, because the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak has not ended, inevitably the world of Education is required to adjust.

However, behind these challenges, there are some good practices that can be taken from distance learning, namely…

1). Learners more focus on learning. Because learning at home without any interference from others.

2). Not easy to get tired. Because learning without spending energy to go to course.

3). More effective. Because it does not incur costs for transportation, snacks, print and photocopies.

4). Feel free to determine course time, except on a predetermined schedule. Learning can be more relax, you can learn while eating, lying down, and so on.

That’s all. Thank you.
